About

The Department of Education started its journey in 2018. Initially it offered General course in the subject. However, after continuous effort it opened its Honours course in 2019. The motto of the Department is all-round development. The Department has four dedicated Teachers for nurturing the learners.

Best Practices

  • Bridge Course for the newly admitted students both honours and general is conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes. This is important for the new students as during this course the department explains the fundamental idea regarding the subject, makes the students well-acquainted with the syllabus of the subject and the scope (career opportunities) of the subject.
  • Field work activity is carried out by the department where the students of the department are sent to the neighbouring schools. Through this activity students are taught how to collect data, how to do statistical analysis of the collected data and explain the findings in the lucid manner. Thus, it helps students to be research oriented which will not only help them in research work or while pursuing higher studies but will also help them in their jobs.
  • Peer-tutoring programme is also practiced by the department where each student must assume the role of the teacher and teach a certain given topic or the topic of their choice in the presence of teachers and other classmates. The teachers observe the students and correct them and help them where they lack. This enables the student to gain confidence in speaking and teaching, and get motivated in pursuing a career in teaching.
  • Remedial classes are arranged by the department for the academically weak students and for those students who have poorly performed in their semester exams.
  • Power Point presentation by the students as an activity is also carried out with the aim to train students to how to present a topic in class with the help of technology.

Teaching Learning

Teaching learning is made student-centric by giving our students every opportunity for independent as well as collaborative learning. Teachers apart from follow traditional method of teaching also follows other methodologies such as discussions, debates, project method, field trips, heuristic method, and problem-solving method.

  • Debates: -The department mostly uses debates methods in teaching learning process, on a wide variety of social and educational issues.
  • Project method: - Education department encourages students to make some small projects to enhance their practical knowledge, simultaneously working on the creative and innovative aspects of their personality and inspiring them.
  • Field trips: - The department usually takes students for field trips as it helps them to develop critical and creative thinking, and understand the given environment.
  • Heuristic method: - A heuristic method of teaching is a problem-solving method that are based on practical experience and knowledge. The department uses this method to help and make students understand the problem, make a plan to solve the problem, carry out the plan and evaluate and then adapt.
  • Problem solving method: -The problem-solving method of teaching is a popular approach to learning that allows students to understand new concepts by doing. This approach provides students with examples and real-world situations, so they can see how the theory behind a concept of skill works in practice.

Apart from the above methods used, the department also makes an effort to  bring innovating methods like peer teaching, collaborative learning, mentoring of the students, to enhance teaching and learning process further.
