Student Council

The College has a recognized Students’ Union consisting of class representatives elected by the students of the college.

 

  • The aim of the Students’ Union is to build up a healthy and ideal atmosphere for study and to solve the problems of the students.
  • It helps the College authority in the grievance redressal of students throughout the year and also places the demands of the students before the College authority.
  • It also helps to promote harmony, brotherhood and discipline on campus.
  • The union has many sub-committees each headed by a Professor-in-Charge to conduct different co-curricular activities, e.g. Games and Sports, Cultural and Social functions, College Magazine, Students’ welfare.
  • General Secretary, Vice President and Assistant General Secretary are elected by the class representatives in a meeting convened by the Principal. In the same meeting, different sub-committees are formed and their Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Members are elected.
  • The General Secretary of the Students’ Union is an Ex-officio member of the Governing Body.
  • Academic and other sub-committees, except the Finance sub-committee, are represented by the General Secretary and/or the Vice President / Assistant Secretary of the Students’ Union.
  • The General Secretary of the Students’ Union, a member of the Governing Body, may on the approval of the GB, be a member of the Finance sub-committee.
  • The Principal is the chief patron of the Students’ Union.
  • The President of the Students’ Union is nominated by the Principal from a panel of three permanent teachers of the college.
  • The Union also conducts and participates regularly in Saraswati Puja, Annual Sports, Social Functions, Publication of Annual Magazine, Annual Cultural Fest, Exhibitions and Competitions, Observation of Teachers’ Day etc.
