About

In Raja Peary Mohan College, Computer Science Department started functioning from the year 2003. In this age of Information Technology, knowledge of computer is essential to the part of our life. We live in a society where the knowledge of computer science and its application are responsible for smartphones, tablets, the internet , networked communications and social media. We consumes content – whether that be news, information, entertainment, or communication – through screens. We are truly living in a digital age, driven by computer science.
Studying computer science will help us to develop problem-solving, critical thinking and complex analytical skills. Skills such as these are especially useful for specialised working with complex algorithms and big data to create instructions and understand design patterns.
So students are always eager to study this subject as a combination of pure science pass subject. They do score well in both practical and theoretical papers in University Examination. After passing out , many of them are working in different private and public sectors as Software - Experts.

Best Practices

A student-centric classroom, or student-friendly learning environment, is one where the focus is shifted from the teacher to the students, with the end goal of developing students who are capable of independent thinking, problem solving , etc .
Many proponents of student-centric learning would argue that it’s one of the most effective ways to help students develop the skills required for independent problem-solving and lifelong learning.
In the more traditional “teacher-centric learning” environment, the teacher is the centre of the learning experience and takes the “active” role of teaching, while the students assume a more “passive” or receptive role. In contrast, in the student-centric learning environment, the students take centre stage and the teacher gives students choice and voice, finding ways to provide learning experiences as a facilitator.
So, when we develop a student-centric learning environment, that will help our students become independent learners who will ultimately take charge of their own future and they will be successful.
In our department students are encouraged to ask questions and participate in group – discussion on a particular topic. Here we use open-ended questioning techniques. We encourage them for collaboration and group projects and try to involve students in community-based activities and service-learning projects.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science emphasizes problem solving in the context of algorithm development and software implementation and prepares students for effectively using modern computer systems in various applications. The curriculum provides required computer science courses such as programming languages, data structures, computer architecture and organization, algorithms, database systems,  operating  systems,  and software  engineering;  as well as elective courses in artificial intelligence, computer-based communication networks, distributed computing, information security, graphics, human-computer interaction, multimedia, scientific computing, web technology, and other current topics in computer science. The main aim of this Bachelor’s degree is to deliver a modern curriculum that will equipped graduates with strong theoretical and practical backgrounds to enable them to excel in the workplace and to be lifelong learners.

The purpose of the B.Sc. programs in computer science are twofold: (1) to prepare  the student for a position involving the design, development and implementation of computer software/hardware, and (2) to prepare  the student  for  entry  into a  program  of postgraduate study in computer science/engineering and related fields.
